On May 8, 2026, George W. McCarthy, President and CEO of the Lincoln Land Policy Institute, visited Peking University. Peking University President Gong Qihuang met guests at Linhuxuan, accompanied by Executive Vice President Zhang Jin.

Gong Qihuang warmly welcomed McCarthy and his delegation. He pointed out that through the joint efforts of both parties, the Peking University-Lincoln Center for Urban Development and Land Policy Research (referred to as the "Peking University-Lincoln Center") has developed into an academic and think tank platform with significant influence in the field of urban development and land policy research in China. Gong Qihuang introduced the overall overview of Peking University's scientific development, expressed heartfelt thanks for the Lincoln Land Policy Institute's long-term support to Peking University, and expressed hope that both sides will continue to deepen cooperation in the future to promote higher-quality development in scientific research innovation, policy research, and talent cultivation.

McCarthy expressed his gratitude for Peking University's warm hospitality. He stated that over the past 20 years, the Peking University-Lincoln Center has achieved fruitful results in academic research, policy consulting, talent cultivation, and international exchange. The Lincoln Institute for Land Policy looks forward to further deepening cooperation with Peking University and expanding international exchange and research collaboration space in urban development and land policy.

During the meeting, Gong Qihuang presented McCarthy with a silk painting from the West Gate of Peking University as a memento of the meeting.

After the meeting, McCarthy and Zhang Jin jointly attended the annual management committee meeting of Peking University-Lincoln Center, attended by heads of relevant departments and functional departments from Peking University.

This annual management committee meeting was chaired by Liu Zhi, Director of the Peking University-Lincoln Center, with Zhang Jin delivering the opening speech. Professor He Canfei from Peking University's School of Urban Environment and Deputy Director of the Peking University-Lincoln Center delivered a work report, detailing the center's main achievements for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, its contributions to Peking University, sources of domestic funding, strategic goals for 2027, preparations for the 20th anniversary celebration, and the proposed 2027 budget and work plan.

McCarthy and Zhang Jin each delivered closing remarks. Both parties highly praised the achievements of their cooperation over the years, expressed their gratitude, and expressed great anticipation for the center's upcoming 20th anniversary celebration. This conference was a complete success.
